Tumbelin is a Ngarrindjeri word which means “Awaken and Live”. Building capacity for positive, healthy relationships is at the heart of how young people are supported to become awake and alive.

Getting out into nature and camping, bushwalking, kayaking, rock climbing and mountain biking create opportunities for young people to take responsibility, discover strengths and learn new ways of being.

Tumbelin Farm has four stages: Pre-engagement, Residential Rehab, Community Re-engagement and Tumbelin Alumni.

Pre-engagement is the enquiry, referral and intake process. Young people can visit the website for a 3D tour of the facilities and reach out to the Program Lead for a chat. There are some referral forms to complete and then young people are invited to the Farm to see the space and meet with the Program Lead and Counsellor for an interview. Once a referral has been accepted and a date negotiated, young people undertake 7 day detox before entering the Residential Rehab stage.

Throughout the Residential Rehab stage (3 to 6 months), the young person will be required to: participate in the home and farm life of Tumbelin Farm, engage in adventure-based learning activities, work on their Personal Journey Plan and Personal Learning Plan, all with a view to returning to life in community.

Community Re-engagement sees the young person pro-actively connecting with their Circle of Support and community. Young people who remain at the Farm a minimum of 4 weeks are eligible to engage with the Alumni program.
