Tumbelin Farm is a residential adventure therapy program for young South Australians aged 16 to 21 who want to overcome their alcohol and/or other drug issues and achieve lasting change.

Tumbelin is a Ngarrindjeri word which means “Awaken and Live”. Building capacity for positive, healthy relationships is at the heart of how young people are supported to become awake and alive.

Getting out into nature and camping, bush-walking, kayaking, rock climbing and mountain biking creates opportunities for young people to take responsibility, discover strengths and learn new ways of being.

Tumbelin Farm has four stages: Engagement, Residential Rehab, Community Re-engagement and Tumbelin Alumni.

During the Engagement stage the young person will be supported to: engage with a Case Manager, begin work on a Personal Journey Plan, participate in a Circle of Support meeting and complete a withdrawal period of up to 14 days immediately prior to entering Tumbelin Farm.

Throughout the Residential Rehab stage (3 to 6 months) the young person will be required to: participate in the home and farm life of Tumbelin Farm, engage in adventure-based learning activities, continue working on their Personal Journey Plan and Personal Learning Plan, all with a view to returning to life in community.

The Return stage sees the young person pro actively re-engaging with their Circle of Support and community, with access to ongoing support from a Tumbelin Farm Case Manager and the option of ongoing engagement with the Tumbelin Farm Alumni.
